My boyfriend and I had a hump day taco craving and seeing our favourite Chancho was closed, we decided to finally give The Mexican a try. After waiting for a quick five minutes, we were promptly seated and ordered a Modelo and Modelo michelada, as well as some tequila shots to start.
For our first round, he went with the 4 tacos and I had 3 sopes. Every single protein was absolutely delicious and well marinated, but our favourite taco was the carnitas, which was succulent and flavourful. I loved the chorizo with potatoes sope, which had a rich, creamy texture from the potatoes contrasting with the crunch of the sope nicely. We were comfortable at this point but being the fat asses we are, we ordered another full round of drinks, as well as an additional two tacos for me and a tostada for him.
I went with the slightly more expensive premium meats this time in the lengua and skirt steak, the latter of which came at our server's recommendation. These were both so good! The fat on the skirt steak had rendered nicely with crisp edges, and it had a beautiful smokey Chipotle flavour. My boyfriend's tostada was HUGE and came adorned with a small mountain of carnitas. This was a great value at $8 and we both were stuffed after this second round.
All in all, The Mexican is one of the few places offering truly delicious and authentic Mexican food in Vancouver and I'd recommend coming here. Their extensive menu is bound to please even the pickiest of palettes and I will definitely be back to try out the tortas, molletes, and shrimp tacos. -

We tried several dishes and wow they were each awesome! The Barrigón plate was highly recommended by our waitress and it was delicious. The corn tortillas that came with the plate were warm and tasted like they just came newly made from a tortilleria.
We also got a torta ahogada, something very hard to find outside of Jalisco, Mexico. The torta bread wasn't a traditional birrote salado, but the pork, pickled flamed onion, the sauce and chile made this torta worthwhile! Really, really good.
Finally we got the enfrijoladas too and it was just like mama would make for you! The Granville Island Pale Ale washed it down. All in all I would encourage people to try this place out.
As we were leaving a family of 4 was looking at the menu. We told them they would not be disappointed if they are there and successfully encouraged them to give it a go. -

Omg, we ordered the chicharron de queso as an appetizer and it was so amazing!
My husband ordered the veggie burrito with no mushrooms but it seems like they put extra mushrooms in there. So that was disappointing.
I ordered the carne asada tacos and they were Delicious as well.
Would love to give them a five star but my husband wasn't that happy with his veggie burrito.
Next time we visit Vancouver, we will be back!!!!
I am dreaming of that queso appetizer!!!! -

Went in on a busy Sunday evening and sat on the bar. Amazing service by the team members and I tried Horchata for the first time it was pure delish!! No longer a horchata virgin!! That was good.
They were out of soup so started with the chips and salsa and a beef taco. Both were amazing! Highly recommend the tacos delish! For entree I went for the $25 Steak dish and I was just disappointed. The steak was over cooked and didn't really taste good. I wouldn't recommend the dish and I was pretty disappointed with that dish.
Service 5/5
Tacos 5/5
Entree 1/5
Horchata 5/5 -

Came back to order the Mexican Antojitos special ($23). Came with a choice of two tacos or quasedilas. Was damn delicious, and very filling. Would be happy to come again to try more :)
